History Recorded

I was sitting on Memaw's old blue couch in my pink living room.

Bryan was sitting next to me.

I was eating a grilled BBQ chicken salad from Struts.

My POM glass was filled with water.

The TV was on CNN.

After counting down from ten, Wolf Blitzer announced Barak Obama as the new president-elect.

History was recorded.

For a brief moment all was still as the surreal moment sank into our minds. McCain's concession speech was a humbling expression of his leadership, character and true servant's heart. I also appreciated Obama's relative acceptance speech. He gave gratitude, noted the momentous occasion and called for the nation to unite together and work step by step to rise and grow as a nation.

"Above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years — block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand...This victory alone is not the
change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change." --Obama, November 4, 2008

No matter how you voted, in two months, Americans need to work together with Obama to help mold the United States into a greater nation, moving forward one foot in front of the other.
