Breakfast: blueberry parfait.
I am no morning person, but the sunlight that fills my kitchen (and warms my breakfast stool) every morning makes me happy and helps me start my day. I've even started trying to eat breakfast more often! Today I had time to eat a little yogurt and watch some morning news...what's the world coming to? (Well, today, I could tell you!)
Today actually ended up being a really yummy day. I've been promising my friend Jerrod (a stellar photographer who grew up and lives here--and whom I bug with photography questions) I would cook for him. Today is his birthday, so I thought a birthday brunch sounded like a good idea.
Lunch: We had banana bread french toast with fresh strawberries and Guatemalan coffee.
(The really fun french toast recipe is courtesy of the fabulous Flying Biscuit cookbook my parents gave me, the coffee is courtesy of Bryan's friend who works at Starbuck's and generously gave us his free pound for the week and, well, the strawberries are from Winn Dixie.)

Banana bread French toast? So obvious once you hear it, but I never would have thought of it! Thanks for the idea. Looks amazing!
(Hi Jerrod!)
Speaking of stellar-the shots and description of this food would make anyone hungry! Yum!
mmmmmm I want some!
Ooo delicious.
I approve by 3 reasons:
strawberries
french toast
not rice
