Today we went with JSU Field Schools to Terrapin Creek for a day made for kayaking--great weather, just enough rainfall, refreshing water and fun people.

Even though it was just a class 0-1, we learned some great paddling skills and did some swimming and relaxing too:) We pulled out at one point and had a little lunch on a sandy bank.

Our seasoned guide--the fun day began when we asked him about what time we would finish our trip and he replied, "Depends on how many ham n' cheeses we go through."
Our friend Bryan (otherwise known as Tick Tock and 1/6 of the reason why we call Sintos Sintos--a whole handful of Bryan's entered the Marching Southerners trumpet section the same year)--he may also be the culprit for flipping Sintos' kayak.
Just before the end of the day (and at just the right time) we "pulled over" and got to fill up our water bottles with fresh spring water coming from the ground and feeding into the creek. It was icy cold and really refreshing!

Looks like fun! Chilly fun, but still fun!
Kayaking looks like so much fun. I've never tried. It's on my list of things to do! I must admit I'm a bit worried about flipping. As I'm sure you recall I am not best swimmer. Is it easy to get out of them? While kayaking is something I want to do, drowning most definitely is not!
