beautiful colors and settings

My mom and I went to the backyard for a daily pick of muscadines and scuppernongs--the fruit is so bountiful this year!

I feel slightly awkward showing off jewelry, but I know I won't see some of you for some time and the grapes and vines made for a wonderful setting, so I got a little distracted with my camera while my mom picked a basket of goodness.

I would say, "Here is the ring that made me say 'yes'," but actually, he had the boxed closed while asking me! In any case, this is the specially designed ring that made me swoon soon after:)

My mom picking away after our bike ride. We've shared and shared, but I swear I can't even tell where people have picked, so we're on a mission to find and develop recipes with these sweet fruits.

Just to give you a hint of how wonderfully sweet they smell, I could smell this basket of fruit sitting on the kitchen counter over the stir fry we made for dinner that night!

Ok, one more shot :)

And we did get to try out one recipe this evening. We got together for a little birthday extension with Memaw and Pawpaw and did our best to remake the delicious muscadine ice cream we all remember having at Callaway Gardens on trips to Pine Mountain. And we didn't do half bad! (I'm guessing this is true because the Ice Cream King himself--Pawpaw--had about four helpings!)

It's even prettier up close:)
You'd never know I grew up in Ga. I thought that muscadines and such weren't much good for eating. Shows what I know. It sounds good. Know that if I was there I would surely provide you with service and aid you in using your abundant amount of fruits! ;)
