then came the rain

Waking up to the pleasant sound of raindrops on the roof and a soft sky was wonderful. Then I looked outside my window and noticed the rushing river in the backyard.

Remember the bridge we built before Kyle and Vanessa's wedding? And how it scaled over a small creek? And remember the garden with chalked sunflower markers?

A river has been flooding over it! And the rope swing has been submerged!

After this rain and the "flood of 09," I can't believe the bridge is still standing strong!

a little life on the banks by a mossy tree

Water flowing up and over the bridge. Knowing we received this much rain, I'm a bit worried about our friends in Austell. Even though our yard is a flood plain, our house was built upon a hill. But several areas in Austell are like the bottom of a bowl.

Among other things, the rain water carried two basketballs to the bridge. Who knows who they belong to...nature, I suppose.

Ah, the garden--now a little lake with floating wooden markers.

Although a somewhat dismal day, I love the bright green life growing up this tree (and the gorgeous light an overcast day provides).

And although today is Columbus Day in the states, here's wishing the new part of my family a HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING!
{I hear Kyle is making some hot cranberry punch for the occasion}

~WOW..... that is a lot of water!!!! love that you found beauty in all the flooding you've been having.....thinking a 'message in a bottle' would be fun to toss in and see where it ends up :)~

ps.....if we had that much rain up here in Canada people would be saying just be glad it's not snow
