I would like to inform everyone that my hands have recovered. It was touch and go there for a second, but I once again have nails, have treated all the little cuts, and wore my night gloves with night lotion to get rid of the grand canyon look.
All my euromates will know exactly what I am talking about. Poor Aisha is still in Montpellier suffering from the disease herself. Dish duty was mostly to blame, but before we got gloves, most chemicals or scrubbers were terrorising my hands.
This brings me to state my concern for the fact that they had no gloves, in the kitchen or the maid service. After a month of heavy duty cleaning, we bought our own. They took the hint and starting buying us supplies. The other maids, they were nice people, but they still didn't use gloves. (And before I arrived they didn't use a toilet brush either! Instead they put product on a sponge and immersed their hand in the bowl and went to scrubbin'--well, that was not the kind of 'eau de toilette' I wanted from France. However, if it could get any more gross, they would eat croissants on small breaks from cleaning without washing their hands first!)
