First home game: JSU vs. SEMO

Yesterday we won our home opener by a long shot against SEMO. It was quite a day--first home game, band day and parents day. What that boiled down to-- a bigger crowd with friends returning to visit, 900 visiting high school band students who received clinics from staff during the morning and played with the Southerners during halftime, as well as the hoopla that comes with a parents weekned (i.e. face painting, inflatable things, bbq tents, pictures with the mascot, etc.). With all of this going on the Southerns had five, count them 5, shows yesterday--all centering around a 2:30 game--talk about hot in the polyester!
It was very exciting for me, though, because my mom got to come:) We had a quick lunch and then I think she definitely got to get her Southerners fill with all the stuff we did that day. Sintos won't be in until the next game, so they together and cheered on the team next to us in the stands. Then, I was thinking about how hard I worked all day and how I deserved a treat. My mom had also never eaten at Jefferson's, the town dive for burgers and wings...so I know you can't believe it, but we at fried mushrooms and burgers with fries for dinner! Yummy.

I don't have a wide-angle lens, so Sintos couldn't catch this group of 400, but this is our opening set. We have huge numbers and tight intervals this year--it's the 50th Anniversary of the Marching Southerners.
A closer shot of my area on the field. That's me on the 40, in the front. Posted by Picasa
