Southerners Appreciation Day

Because the Marching Southerners have been super busy this past week (Thursday game/show in Jacksonville, Saturday show in Birmingham and Monday show at McEachern-Cobb county), Mr. Bodiford actually gave us yesterday off! This has never really happened before, so after not sleeping for two days last week to finish a critical paper, I stayed home and Michelle and I had a day in the city:

My new 'do and shampoo:) I went to an awesome salon downtown (I think I will post a pic of it tomorrow just because it makes me so happy). My hair has a violet tint to it just in case you thought I was actually being regular for once! But it's not stark, I can still go to work here.

Michelle got her hair cut too. She went daring and got stylish bangs and added a few layers for some movement. This picture shows her enjoying a fabulous burger at the Vortex in Little 5. Just because mine tasted so good, I'll have to recap for you: Think veggie burger with a blue cheese spread, mushrooms, bacon, tomato, lettuce and onion---yum!

After we stuffed ourselves at lunch (we ate around 3 and it was so great, I didn't even want dinner later!) we took a trip to Whole Foods to get much better choice for our week's groceries. In Jacksonville I have the tough choice between Winn Dixie or Super Wal-Mart. We grabbed some good food, including these delicious concord grapes while in Atlanta. They have a small seed, but knowing you have to get the seed out just makes sure you are taking the appropriate amount of time to enjoy the flavor---they taste like communion (you know what i mean)!

Michelle's dad rolled into town from Michigan for a visit. Her grandmother, his mother, still lives here in J'ville and is going through chemo. Michelle's mom packed us some house plants, pumpkins, peppers, and tomatoes, plus homemade jarred pickles, strawberry/rhubarb jelly and salsa! wooo-hoo:) THANK YOU!

What a great day. Then I drove back last night and took a mid-term this morning:)
