Me in DC

I took on DC on my own today. Well, me and thousands of my closest sightseeing friends, that is. I hopped out of Bryan's car at a stoplight after he got a call to install. That was my best bet because so many streets were closed for festivities today. I had fun. I guess my learned Euro ways of traveling (that would be minus the fanny pack and bulky tennis shoes) led people to keep asking me for directions. Kari, oh were the fanny packs out !

Today's found fun included a 4th of July parade, the Washington Monument, choral concert on a stage by the monument, WWII Memorial, Corcoran Museum and a dinner picnic by the monument under the firework show:)WWII Memorial-looking up into the entrance arch.I saw this guy standing by himself at the memorial. He was obviously decorated, so I thought I would ask him about it and give him a bit of my gratitude for his service. He smiled and said, "So do you like my memorial?" He said he liked to come out on occassion and watch people enjoy the memorial he created. I told him how it was peaceful and reassuring and told him about my granddad who served. After a picture with him, he gave me his card and asked me to send him a copy of the picture.
