Saturday--game day. This was my first JSU game not as a Southerner (member of the band). I wasn't sure how I'd feel, but I enjoyed seeing people I haven't seen in a while, we sat next to the band, we won the game and the post-game performance was really great. I'm hanging out here with one of my old roommates, Cyndi, who's in the army and lives in Birmingham now. An afternoon kickoff in sweltering temperatures wasn't a major plus to the day, but hey, how could I complain while wearing a light cotton sun dress instead of a thick polyester band uniform!

I guy I used to march with got a press box pass for after the game and debuted his career as the sound of the Marchiiiiiiiing Southerners. I slipped in behind him, smiling, and got to watch the Southerners from up top!

This year's show is called, "Higher, Faster, Louder!" and boy is it! A trumpeter's dream. This will make a good last year for Sintos.

Trumpet quartet--it's amazing. We'll just leave it at that.

Ballerinas--doing what they do best.

Remember the Where's Waldo page in the Highlights magazine where it was a thousand people dressed like Waldo, so it wasn't quite as easy as just looking for the man in the red and white striped shirt? Well, to help you out, Sintos is the first trumpet on the 40-yard line, right behind one of the color guard members.

And....30, yes I said 30, 20Js!
For the Georgia fans, the Southerners will be performing at the Paulding County Exhibition this year on September 18 and at the Georgia Dome on October 27. I'll be there on the 18th if anyone wants to join me:) The 27th is a BOA Regional Competition so it will cost more than the $2 exhibition.
KYLE UPDATE!
Kyle arrived in Montana last week and took a minute to write us an email-here's a little excerpt:
We made it in fine yesterday after along trip but it was awesome. I still cannot believe the location of this camp it is unbeleiveable. We have been pretty booked up all day with activities both fun and class stuff. The is
internet here in the lodge but I am not sure how a typical day will go yet, much less is there a typical day here.
Sounds like he's having a blast but has tons going on to do, manage and comprehend. I can't wait until he puts pictures on his blog-though, it seems understandable:)
