Birthday Madness

Chupp children have been accused of lengthening birthdays a bit--but who wouldn't stretch out the celebration? I turned 26 on Tuesday, but if we're really counting days of celebration, the pack I railed around Europe with was my birthday present from my parents--I love it so much I took it to Chicago the other weekend too!

Last weekend Bryan and I went home and went to the fair with Carly and Andrew...and ate every fried piece of fair food we could find (or so it seemed).

Hanging out outside with Bryan in beautiful fall weather

One of the most delicious cakes ever: raspberry chiffon with almond cream cheese frosting (Lauren, I'll have to get that recipe to you!)

Although I couldn't ask for more, my parents gave me a present I'll treasure forever--they gathered, copied, cut and pasted a recipe book I should just call "A Taste of Home." It's recipes we've always loved and used, such as Cricket Dessert (buttercream brownie squares) from a Pine Mountain restaurant's cookbook.
My favorite part is that I have recipes in the handwriting of the people I love and from books I remember using in my mom's kitchen. My mom's favorite part is probably that I won't have to call her as much and beg for ingredient lists and directions (key words, "as much").

A night out for my birthday from Bryan--tickets to see Jim Gaffigan!

On my actual birthday I had work and class, so to have a relaxing evening at home, Bryan and I were cheesy: we got canvas boards and some paint, put out some newspaper in the living room and created masterpieces while watching Some Like it Hot on the old movies channel. Top!

Sunday lunch at Le Neighbor, a new French restaurant in Vinings that's comfortable yet elegant. I had a delectable duck salad with an orange vinaigrette. The staff is more than friendly-our waiter brought me a small sample of their tomato basil soup in an espresso cup. And for the birthday girl, an amazing chocolate dessert! (I know, this sounds like a restaurant review, but I'm always one to mention a good new place)

me and my mom:)

To finish off the birthday week, I worked and went to a three-hour class Thursday. When I got home, someone had already let Michelle in and she met me with a glass of red wine-in glasses I get to keep! She also had a baguette in the oven and a warm goat cheese and tomato spread-what a great surprise!

It's great having such wonderful people in your life to make days (and weeks and months) so lovely:)

you deserve every bit of it! I think we need to find a good excuse to use our packs again, mine is getting lonely :)
