70 and 27

Today marked another year in the life of Erin. But with the most current events, it seems I did not mind turning 27:) I didn't even mind not having a cake this year.

I have no self control regarding cake and cake-like food items (cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cookie cakes, etc.), so instead of keeping a whole cake lying around, I had a birthday almond croissant from Douceur de France--to go with the croque madame I had for lunch--a delicious treat!

Thanks to Kyle and Vanessa for even thinking about my birthday while on their honeymoon in Bermuda and getting my mom to hide a present at home when they returned and flew back to Canada:) You guys are great!

And much fun with Carly tonight when we met at Atlantic Station to celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz by watching it on the big screen! The lovely Corinne and my parents came too, and Bryan drove over from Alabama (he gave me the tickets for my birthday a week ago--I know, ruby slippers and a ruby ring...what more can a girl ask for?!)

I had the idea to hit the thrift store to see if I could add a dash of fun to the evening. Although, when we walked in the door, my mom quickly spotted the wedding dresses and was excited that Wednesdays are half off day, so I could get a real deal on one of these beauties.

If you know my mother, you'll love that she said, "Aw, our first mother/daughter wedding dress shopping. This is a moment to remember; let's take a picture." She also said I was welcome to sleep on it for a week and come back next Wednesday.

These beauties, however, were a perfect find for the evening. And they even have the ruby slipper bows on them already! And at half price, they were only two dollars!

From thrift store to theater!
Once home, I got out some craft glue and garnet glitter and went to work. I love the way they came out and got compliments on them at the movies tonight:) One girl even asked to take a picture of them!

Sitting in my ruby slippers, Corinne and I tried to hold ourselves back, but we did end up at least lip-syncing to the songs and doing some dancing using small motions. We all had a great time:)

And in one minute...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KYLE!!!

Oh how I love you Erin! Loved the pics, the lack of self control that I too inherited when it comes to sweets, the reinvented RUBY SLIPPERS!, stories about Aunt Kay (which I can completely imagine the whole thing taking place), and the squelched singing during Wizard of Oz. Awesome.

my saree, how i love you too!
and lauren, your statement may be correct...but i will point out that when they said, "lions and tigers and bears," mister bryan was the first to yell out "oh my!" in the theater. followed by corinne. followed by my mother. and etc. :)
