beautiful branches

vine-ripened muscadines and scupernongs in the backyard

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes [a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." John 15:1-4, TNIV

This evening we got a wonderful surprise--our friend, Ginger, was driving down the road and her car turned down our street so she could drop in and say hello:)

Normally when you hear John 15, people start reading from verse five. But I love how we are reminded before this verse that no branch can bear fruit by itself. Not only do we need the Vine and the Gardner, we need to be surrounded by other fruit-bearing branches.

So it's only fitting that my mom got to spend time picking fruit off the branches with Ginger this evening. How nice to see a friend...just because.

Charlie even got to get out and run!

to all my closest branches, i cherish our times together and hope you continue to bear much fruit until i can visit with you again
