Other exciting news is that Bryan arrived to Jacksonville safely yesterday and is starting a semester full of classes today. He's a little upset that I can do most of my work from home and online, but I would gladly trade him one of my classes for his "Class Guitar." :)
He was thrilled to get here and see everyone yesterday. A lot of us live within walking distance of each other, so after he unpacked and waited for me to get back in town, he took a ride on his long board last night. He didn't get very far before surprising a few people relaxing on their porches as he rolled by. When I got into town I called and told him I was leaving, but I didn't say from where-he assumed Atlanta, but I was already at my apartment. When he told me who's house he was hanging out at, it turned out he was one block away. This is what I love about Jacksonville and friends...I walked up to a porch full of people who didn't know I was coming and got cheers and hugs from everyone. They immediately told me to grab a hot dog or hamburger and a drink from the back. The also told me Sintos was out back by the grill. When I walked out there casually I thought he was going to drop his plate-he was very happy to see me:) And he was quick to note how he could fit just one arm all the way around me and asked, "Where did you go?" He gets points for noticing all of my hard work during band camp and since I've seen him.
As we chilled and caught up with people, he just kept smiling and hugging whoever walked up the steps. People came by just because they drove by and saw bodies on the porch. Others came by because they heard Sintos was in town and wanted to see for themselves. And one guy who works in the kitchen at Struts would run across the street from the restaurant every once and a while and bring us appetizers he could sneak away-yay for being in the south and eating fried pickles!
At one point Sintos said, "Man, I'm just so happy to be back. If Jacksonville were a pool I would want to jump in it right now."
And not to ruin this happy post, but after a great, yet long, day Saturday, the Gamecocks lost to Furman in the last 28 seconds:(
