It's flown by

My time in Washington has flown by like this metro train. Within a short week I've experienced moments filled with interest and intrigue. I didn't get to meet the president, and many here hope the new one is Clinton number two, but the time was well spent. Through my travel experiences I've learned one good thing: You can't possibly see everything the city you're visiting has to offer in one trip and won't really feel its presence until you live there a little while, so do what you can and profit from every day, but don't kill yourself. Don't miss all of the little things because you're staring up at monuments or down into a map.
Self portrait in front of the Smithsonian
Portrait by a Japanese girl on a school trip inside the Museum of Natural History-I thought Carly would want me to have this picture taken.
And if Carly were here, I might just make her stand by this little guy:) He is a type of fox known as the Fennec-his ears are one-third his body length and help him to detect prey and dissipate heat. (See, I didn't just laugh at him, I learned something too.)
Portrait inside the Library of Congress taken by a couple traveling together. I know when someone says "library" you don't think, 'Oh, I gotta see that,' but this place was absolutely amazing. There's a 45-minute tour that is very informative, takes you to a part of the library you can only go to with a docent, and above all, it's free, so I highly suggest it.

All of these photos are from Saturday. Yesterday, all the APX boys had their weekly day off, so I hopped on board with their plans and spent the day at the beach in Ocean City, MD! The waves were great, the weather nice and our sand castle had to have been the biggest on the beach.

Today I felt like I was going to die in Arlington National Cemetery-it was over 100 degrees today. The buses were even free because we were under a cod red. I also went to the Old Post Office and the went up the Clock Tower to see Washington from its second highest point.

I'm heading home tomorrow to rest for an evening until I return to the airport again...bound for France!
